Dr. Abdel Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, pointed out that the drinking water and sanitation sector witnessed remarkable development during this year and that projects are being implemented that contribute to reaching a 100% coverage rate for drinking water and sanitation services to achieve citizens’ satisfaction.
Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, explained that drinking water and sewage services have been improved in Sohag and a number of projects have been implemented that contribute to the availability of a clean cup of water for citizens and the safe disposal of sewage.
Engineer Mohamed Salah El-Din Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sohag Water and Wastewater Company and Managing Director, indicated that in the field of drinking water and wastewater projects, 58 large, small, and artesian surface drinking water stations were replaced and renovated in the governorate’s districts, and 35 groundwater wells were drilled and constructed in 32 water stations. Artesian with a total cost of 152.4 million pounds, as well as works to replace and renew drinking water networks at lengths 251 km and 1,700 fire bushes to eliminate dead ends, worth 211.6 million pounds.
